What's In Your E-Liquid? The Vaping Basics

Your e-liquid is to your vape mod as your gas is to your car. If you own/drive a car, you know how much the right octane rating, let alone the right type of gasoline is of utmost importance to help your car perform in top-shape. Remember that the e-liquid that you vape goes inside your body so it's important that you know what's in it.

Here are some things that are on your

Vegetable Glycerin (VG)

Vegetable Glycerin, or more popularly known as VG is a thick liquid that is responsible for creating that huge cloud of smoke when you vape. Most competition e-liquids maximize their VG to be able to create chunks of cloud with little effort.
Other Uses: Cosmetics, candies, cakes, herbal supplements

Propylene Glycol (PG)

Propylene Glycol (PG) is your e-liquid's flavor carrier. Although VG produces that much clouds, PG is responsible for mixing the flavors into it. A higher PG blend usually results to a vape with more throat hit and flavor compared to a higher VG blend.
Other Uses: Food preservative, cosmetics

Water

Need we say more?
Other Uses: Drinking, taking a bath, washing your car, flushing your toilet, etc.

Alcohol

Some natural flavors are diluted in alcohol, if water or PG alone couldn't do the job. The alcohol that is used for making e-liquids are food grade, so you don't have to worry about getting poisoned, but you should worry about getting drunk if you vape a 1 liter bottle of e-liquid in one sitting.
Other Uses: Partying, getting drunk

Natural and Artificial Flavorings

Flavorings used in e-liquid are diluted in either PG, Water, Alcohol, or VG. Different flavors react to different liquids used to dilute them, hence any of the above mentioned is used for the purpose.
Other Uses: Candies, cakes, food, perfumes

Nicotine

Nicotine gives that throat hit that you also get from smoking a cigarette.
Other Uses: None

All of these ingredients are safe, except probably for nicotine which may be poisonous if not handled probably. Your e-liquid is less likely to contain a toxic amount of it though; and trace amounts of nicotine has no proven side effect aside from the same kick that caffeine gives to your body.
